This device looks to be a great buy for the money. I ran CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 圆4 against a single 250 GB spinning disk formatted NTFS: Next, I ran the same benchmark with two 250 GB disks in a Windows mirrored volume: I then ran both disks in a striped configuration and saw expected performance increases: My new tests do not corroborate my initial findings. My initial tests when I first got the card were that the single disk tests ran as expected and striped tests ran considerably slower than a single volume. Good luckĮdit: Okay, I double checked my initial claims and I'm not able to reproduce them.
If you're only using a SSD, then you'll probably be alright. I believe these cards were only ever meant to be maximally used with one drive at a time. However when benchmarked together or combined in a software RAID configuration, speeds decreased dramatically. They both achieved close to their theoretical maximum read/write/IOPs when benchmarked individually. I benchmarked two identical disks attached to one of these cards.
for you in OS X as Im about to put together GA Z170X UD5 motherboard hackintosh. If you're looking to max out your transfer speeds use only one port. It shows up as Renesas with the driver that came with the card, lovely. Edit: See edit below I have one of these.
